My engine light was on. I cleared it and it has not came back. Why isn't there an option in the app that saves previous engine codes?

Hi Esteban. There are a lot of great potential features we can can and will build. It's just one step at a time. Thanks for the suggestion!

Engine Code History.

Track the history of check engine codes with time and date. Then you can see if the same code repeats, how often it repeats and how long between occurrences.

Review History of Engine Issues.

Is there anyway to pull up past engine alerts? My wife has an intermittent O2 Sensor issue which will show on the dash and it will pop up on her phone but after stopping and restarting the car the dash light will go off and she no longer shows the engine issue on the phone.

Hi there, Elliot. Great idea :) At this time, this feature does not exist, but we are planning to implement this functionality in the future.

Another customer looking for this feature.  Find responses from reps several months old in many threads saying it is coming, but it doesn't appear to be a feature yet.  Any kind of timeline available for the addition of this feature?

Hi there, mstori! This feature is still planned, but there's no ETA for its release. We don't usually offer firm release dates for new features and functionalities as priorities can quickly and unexpectedly shift. We can, however, look up recent engine codes for you :) Just send along you the approximate date in which the code appeared to help@automatic.com, and tech support will get back to you.

Kinda sad that this has been promised for a couple years now and still isn't part of the service. It's a very basic function, imo, to record what the screen gives you and to put it in a log attached to your vehicle. I assumed it would be logged on the portal, considering the app logs everywhere I drive and my mpg, so I cleared my code... and well... no log. Please implement this feature!

Well that is a bummer. Since I am a curious what data it isn't logging?

On the Automatic side, it doesn't log previous engine codes, like I mentioned. On the third party app side, Automatic only gives 3rd party app's access to a small handful of PIDs, meaning all the gauges don't work in apps like OBD Fusion. Automatic says they are working on it.

IFTTT will log your check engine lights for you in a google spreadsheet. It's fairly simple to set up.

Thanks all, I'll have to check this IFTTT thing out sometime, have never used it!

We have a Diagnostic Trouble Code history page in Dashboard Labs that is available for all customers. It's still in beta but you can read more about it and leave your feedback in this post.
